Keepers

Post by randysnyc » Wed Feb 02, 2011 11:31 pm

My 12 team league keeps 0-4 players. Players drafted rounds 1-2 the previous year cannot be kept. Anyone kept costs you a draft pick which is valued at one round higher than the player was drafted the year prior. So I drafted Nelson Cruz rd 9 last year he will cost me an 8th round pick to keep. My question is which 4 keepers are the best value.

Josh Johnson would cost me a 4th rd pick
Nelson Cruz 8th Rd
McCutchen 9th Rd
Bautista 20th Rd
Weeks- 16th Rd

Any opinions will help me make my decision I think i'd be able to get back Johnson pitching is valued very high in this league. He scored 450 pts in 28 starts last year as Weeks scored 430 but it's all about draft value in this format.

Please chime in.

My 2cents I would keep McCutch, Bautista, and Weeks and probably throw both of the others back. Cruz is unknown at this point since he's "off" the stuff, and you have to be really sold on Johnson to keep him for that pick. Gun to my head pick on though I'm taking Cruz, he's at least not coming off an elbow surgery, and an 8th round stinker (if he was all fluff) is a lot easier to stomach.

I'm in a 4 keeper auction that adds $5 to last seasons cost in draft or $5 for a FA pickup.

I'm debating these guys as my keepers

Freeman new cost $28 (budget 345) keeping
Wil Myers $10 keeping
Jason Castro $5 thin position with a lot of good upside IMO unsure
Hunter Pence $13 career year is it sustainable???? unsure
Khris Davis $5 hit it really well last year but small sample size unsure
Clay Buchholz $6 very solid numbers but injury ????? unsure
Hisashi Iwakuma $6 99% sure I'm keeping him

We were a 12 team and 2 dropped so we've added several roster spots (budget size)

I'm leaning towards Freeman, Myers, Iwakuma, and Castro or Bucholz to allow more $ for some of the big fish like Miggy ect ect that will not be kept. Thoughts??? TIA
